3. 6 Days Marangu Route Package

The oldest route to climb Kilimanjaro, Marangu is also one of the shortest routes to the roof and it just takes only 5 to 6 days to climb through it. The 6 Days Marangu Route Package to be carried out day basis are as follow:

Day 1 – Arusha – Mandara

On the first day of hiking, you will be transferred from your base hotel in either Arusha or Moshi to Marangu Gate where your climb begins. From the gate, you will trek for three hours to reach your first hut, Mandara where you will spend the night.

Day 2 – Mandara – Horombo

Your journey from here will start after morning breakfast to the huts of Horombo which is your next stoppage for 2nd day. Here you will be doing your lunch and dinner after 9 hours of walk from Mandara. Standing on this place you can spot the Kibo and Mawazi paths. You will be climbing unto 12,191 feet. 

Day 3 – Horombo Acclimatizing

Acclimatizing is the best process to increase the chances of success because here your body gets sufficient time to adjust to the climate. You will spend another day at Horombo. Just to make your body continue with the adjustment you will climb for 3 hours and then will be back to the Horombo and then you will be doing lunch and dinner. 

Day 4 – Horombo – Kibo

After having breakfast at Horombo you will be hiking for 6 hours unto a distance of 15,524 feet and this is the best place to have the scenic look of the vegetation over the mountain. Then you will be taking rest over there and will have your lunch and dinner.

Day 5 – Kibo – Horombo via Gil man Point and Uhuru Peak

Today you will be woken up at 12:00 for the final attempt to reach the summit, Uhuru Peak. It is a journey that will take approximately 5 hours. Distance. With every step, you will be moving closer to the top. In between reaching the top, you will stop at Gilman point where you will rest for a while before continuing with the trek to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, taking you another one hour. On reaching the peak you will spend some moment over there clicking pictures and taking a short before descending  Horombo hut for the night. 

Day 6 – Horombo – Arusha

On the last day of the journey here you will descend to the Marangu gate from Horombo after taking breakfast. After reaching Marangu Gate, you will be awarded your certificates and you will have a chance to tip your crew before you leave for your base hotel. You have a day room to freshen up and rest before being taken to the airport to catch your flight. You can also decide to spend a night and leave the following day.
