Mikumi is an iconic and quiet national park situated in the Southern Circuit of Tanzania. The national park is closely located on the north-west side of the Selous Game Reserve.
It is the 4th largest national park in the country with a varied landscape. The national park was established in 1964 and covers an area of 3,230 km2;. Due to its open savannah field, the national park is mostly compared with Serengeti and called the Serengeti of the southern circuit.
The vegetation of the area offers to witness savannah dotted with acacia, tamarinds, baobab, and some rare palm trees. While driving towards the national park, you will meet get to witness a great scenic view. The driveways are covered with greenery on both sides as well you will get the view of mountains beside the road.
The national park is truly iconic. You can meet some wildlife even before you enter the gate of the national park. The accommodation inside the national park is also spectacular. Some of the most spotted animals in the national park are; elephant, giraffe, buffalo, Burchell's zebra, sable, eland, Liechtenstein's hartebeest, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, and jackal.
